Anatomy of a Sandwich Panel

Composite Action, Not Just Layers

Metal facings carry structural bending loads and provide weather, corrosion and impact resistance. The rigid foam or mineral-fiber core, bonded to both facings, gives the panel its shear strength — composite action between core and facings, not either component alone, is what delivers the exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and self-supporting span.
